At Tahini Travels we document food, travel and life with a clean aesthetic. That’s also the way we try to approach food in general: uncomplicated, thoughtful and wholesome. We’re not vegetarians, though most of the recipes here are. We admit we have a soft spot for vegetables, still meat is interwoven on a regular basis with respect for the butcher’s craftsmanship. Think: quality above quantity. We’re a trio on a mission, inviting you to taste and experience how good and honest food can make a difference. Recipes are ranging from the indulgent to the healthy and plentiful.
When travelling, food inevitably becomes one of my prime fascinations. I’m dazzled by the stories that emerge when food is being made, ordered, bought, shared, or eaten. In fact, many of my finest memories revolve around food. Besides that, growing my own vegetables allows me to unwind and inspires me to create recipes with the products our seasons have to offer. On Tahini Travels you will read about our meals and journeys: from freshly made pasta in Italy to grilled sardines in Portuguese streets or fresh ceviche in Boliva. I invite you to share a meal with me, cook together, or try out the bright recipes I share with you.
As a true food enthusiast, cooking is both my stomach’s driven passion and guilty pleasure. My curiosity for food has pushed me to taste, create, and study anything food-related. On Tahini Travels you will read the diary of two sisters and their friends who believe that magic happens when people gather around the table. I hope you enjoy reading our adventures as much as we enjoy writing them. Let it be your travel companion packed with food tips and have a dive into the culinary world of flavours!
When twins Deborah and Jasmina crossed my path and I finally managed to see the difference between them, I knew for sure: my talents do not lie in the kitchen, nor in the spice bazaar. However, what we do have in common is our love for astonishing places. Ever passionate I’m on the lookout for hidden gems, exquisite locations and breath-taking views. While talking with local people – individuals like you and me – I discover great and often touching stories. On Tahini Travels, I’d like to inspire you by sharing my precious travel discoveries and memorable encounters.
FEMKE VANBELLE – logo design
As a graphic designer with a great passion for anything related to food or traveling, i was delighted with the assignment to design the logo for Tahini Travels. Although I am already a food enthousiast and amateur cook, Jasmina and Deborah have inspired me to spend even more time searching for that one matching spice or that one specific ingredient. When I am travelling I love to surround myself with mysterious food traditions and undiscovered tastes. From the most spicy local Indian dish to the sweetest ingredients Morocco has to offer, I always ask the locals to write down a family secret and guard them with my life for they almost always become my most valuable souvenir.
